With the yearbook "The World of Organic Agriculture - Statistics and Emerging Trends" the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) publishes quite a pile of numbers and statistics about "recent developments in global organic agriculture" (1).
As the title tells the yearbook claims to discuss a rather comprehensive complex of topics. I'll give a glimpse into a selection of findings which are most interesting from my point of view.
Another development, which can be observed for years now, is the differentiation in export and import markets for organic products. The demand is concentrated in North America and Europe with a share of 90% of the worldwide sales. In other regions, in particular Asia, Latin America and Africa, the organic production is export-geared (3).
